INTRODUCTION

The 10th Spanish Conference on Biometrics will be held in Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias, in 2005. Oviedo is a mid-sized city (with a population of about 200 000) situated near the ocean and the mountains, an ideal location for conferences and symposia. The city offers the perfect size and location, enabling us to achieve an optimal combination of the scientific objectives of the conference and the necessary leisure activities for both participants and guests. In the words of Woody Allen, recently awarded the Prince of Asturias prize in Arts, Oviedo is an exquisite, exotic, beautiful, clean, pleasant, quiet and pedestrian-friendly city...it is as if it did not belong to this world, as if it did not exist...Oviedo is like a fairy-tale city. We expect to be seeing you here in the spring of 2005. We feel sure you will not regret the experience.

 It will be an honor for us to welcome all scientists and researchers with an interest in Biometrics and related fields (Medicine, Psychology, Biology, Economics, Pharmacy, Geology, Statistics, Operational Research, Engineering , etc).  In keeping with the philosophy of the Spanish Biometrics Society, this conference will promote interdisciplinarity . No approach, no topic, no model will be excluded as long as it is supported by facts and sound arguments. From now on you are encouraged to send your scientific contributions.
